Join us and be part of something bigger.

We have paved the way for excellence in Integrated Care and in July 2016 took the  pioneering step to form one of the first Integrated Care Organisations.  We now provide adult social care services alongside our established healthcare services, which has given us the chance to develop better, more joined up ways of working that deliver improved outcomes for the local community.

Are you a newly qualified nurse or a qualified nurse with a passion for caring for older people?

We are looking for highly motivated qualified and newly qualified staff nurses to join our newly launched Shining Stars Care of the Older Person Rotational Programme. The programme is an exciting 18 month rotational programme consisting of three 6 month placements; within an specialist ward (L4 which specialises in Dementia or L5 which specialises in Parkinson’s Disease), an acute ward (L3 or EAU), and either an orthopaedic surgical ward (B6) or our on-site intermediate care unit, Pendleton.

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is a ground breaking Teaching Trust and is rated as Outstanding by the CQC therefore we are looking to recruit, develop and support standout nurses. We are changing the face of care of the older person and are looking for nurses who are passionate about this specialty to join us on this journey.

You will be joining an organisation that is committed to becoming the safest organisation in the NHS and a divisional team that are committed to delivering the highest levels of patient care. You’ll be inspired to build on our impressive track record of improving outcomes and experience for patients and their families.

As well as an interest in care of the older person you will have a willingness to develop the clinical skills and competencies to become an advocate in your field. You will gain experience and exposure to a wide range of acute clinical skills including holistic assessments of older people, wound care, formal capacity assessments, pre & post-operative care, pain management, delirium & dementia assessments & approach to care, multi professional working & discharge planning and the management of complex health needs. Your portfolio of clinical skills will equip you to progress into a competent and skilled senior nurse or as a specialist nurse.

In return we will ensure that you will:-

  • Join our outstanding 12 month preceptorship programme (newly qualified nurses only)
  • Are fully supported by the Practice Development Team, Senior Nursing Team and Specialist Nurses throughout the 18 month programme
  • Develop advanced clinical competencies within each placement and receive a Certificate in Care of the Older Person (based on the Trust’s local competency framework)
  • Receive additional bespoke study days
  • Develop clinical leadership skills
  • Be fully supported by a mentor in practice who will support your learning and development
  • Be best placed for a future career within care of the older person

If you are newly qualified nurse, we will pay your NMC registration fee for the first year and pay you at Band 4 until you receive you NMC PIN. We can also offer a competitive relocation package (subject to conditions).

In line with the Trust’s Single Equality Scheme we welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, disability, age, gender, sexual preference, disability, nationality, religion, marital status, social back ground or trade union.
