This is a Consultant Radiology post required to support and develop diagnostic radiology services based at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) in the face of increasing demand. Sub-specialty interests can be supported and we would encourage any interested candidates to contact the Directorate management team for further discussion. In particular, a sub-specialty interest in GU, chest, nuclear medicine or trauma imaging would be welcomed.
You will join a supportive and welcoming team of 32 Consultant Radiologists and 1 Specialty Doctor. Further details of sub-specialty interests of the Consultant Radiologists can be found in the table below. Within the 32 Consultant Radiologists, 13 are dedicated Neuroradiologists who provide all of the neuroradiology reporting including on-call.
There will be a commitment to general radiology workload including Consultant of the Session (COS) and on-call. On-call is supported by a Radiology Specialty Trainee and there is the provision for remote imaging review. Overnight reporting is outsourced.
The job will include input into MDT meetings working with other colleagues. There will be the opportunity to develop sub-specialty interests within radiology depending on the aspirations of the applicant and the needs of the service.

The Trust is advanced in its use of technology; an example of which is the state of the art Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and is the Greater Manchester single receiving site for major trauma, provides comprehensive thoracic, renal and urology imaging services and consequently an interest in any of these fields would be beneficial.
We are also the designated sector hub for high acuity surgical patients and is the single specialist surgical centre for oesophago-gastric cancer in GM. It is a centre for Bariatric surgery and a National Centre for Intestinal Failure. In addition, SRFT is the Greater Manchester Centre for Neurosciences and the Comprehensive Stroke Centre for the GM population.
